Ukraine Responds to Temporary Embassy Closures Amid Ongoing Security Threats
Kyiv has addressed the temporary closure of several foreign embassies. These include the embassies of the US, Spain, Italy, and Greece. The closures followed security concerns. The US embassy cited specific information about a potential significant air attack in the capital. This was the reason for its closure.
The Ukrainian foreign ministry stated that such threats are now a daily reality. They stressed that the current danger is similar to past risks. The country has faced these risks over the past thousand days of conflict.
Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi emphasized, “We believe it is important for our partners to respond on the 1001st day in the same way. Their response should be consistent with how they’ve reacted on the previous thousand days. They should not be influenced by additional pressure from new information.”
He also urged Ukrainians to remain vigilant and pay attention to air raid sirens, reminding them that the threat of Russian missile attacks is ongoing. While Spain’s embassy has since reopened, the closures of the other embassies remain in place.
