“Highly perilous flood conditions” unfolding in Ventura County
Flash flood warnings persist for the Californian counties of Ventura and Santa Barbara until midnight local time (3 a.m. ET).
A flash flood warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) has highlighted an unfolding “highly perilous flood situation for the mountains and foothills of central Ventura County.”
There exists a significant threat of life-threatening flash floods affecting creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. The advisory further notes the likelihood of debris flows, including rock and mudslides.
This warning comes on the heels of an earlier flash flood alert for eastern Los Angeles County, covering downtown Los Angeles and the venue hosting the Grammy Awards.
Notable locations at risk of flash flooding, as indicated by the NWS, encompass Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Camarillo, Fillmore, Ojai, Montecito, Chatsworth, Santa Ynez, Moorpark, Santa Paula, Port Hueneme, Carpinteria, Solvang, La Conchita, Rose Valley, Rincon Point, and Ventura Harbor.
