First Agricultural Committee meeting of the year to be held in Kilinochchi district

Kilinochchi District Agriculture Committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Kilinochchi District Government President Rupavathy Ketheeswaran.

Kilinochchi District Director of Agriculture, Public Welfare Service Department, Irrigation Department, officials and representatives of agricultural organizations and others participated in this meeting.

In discussion, 100% success should be achieved in the 2024 mini-goal.

Due to the fact that the water level of the ponds is at the reaching level at present, it has been decided that rice cultivation should be started based on the opinion that if the small-scale operation is started at the appropriate time, a large amount of rice cultivation can be done to look at the past times.

Resolutions were also reached to take up supplementary food crops in the lands where small crops were not cultivated.

Speaking to the media, Kilinochchi District Government President Rupavathy Ketheeswaran said,

At present, many parties are alleging that massive fraud is taking place in the purchase of paddy from farmers in many areas.

Farmers of Kilinochchi district should be careful in this regard and if there are any doubts about the scales used in the purchase of paddy, immediate action will be taken if the information is given to the district secretariat.

The District Governor said that the scales involved in the purchase of paddy will be inspected and a solution to the problem will be reached.
