Excitement Builds as Lanka T10 League Set to Debut in December 2024
The inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 League is set to take place from December 12 to December 22, according to an announcement by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Monday (26 Feb.).
Originally slated for June 2023, the tournament was later moved to December 2023 and now finalized for December 2024, with SLC deeming the ‘December window’ as the most suitable timeframe for the league.
Making its debut on Sri Lanka’s annual cricket calendar, the Lanka T10 League will showcase top international talents alongside Sri Lanka’s prominent players. The competition will consist of six men’s teams, each comprising 16 players, including six foreign players per team.
This dynamic tournament aims to provide a platform for the country’s emerging talents to collaborate and compete with international stars. SLC President Shammi Silva expressed confidence in the event’s success, expecting it to keep Sri Lanka Cricket in tune with the evolving trends in the game.
Silva shared his views on the December tournament, stating, “We anticipate that this event will not only capture the interest of cricket enthusiasts but also act as a catalyst for broadening the tournament’s popularity.” Anil Mohan, Founder and CEO of the Innovative Production Group FZE (IPG) Group and a crucial member of the consortium holding the event rights for the Lanka T10 League, added, “This is a significant milestone for us as we organize another captivating chapter in Sri Lankan Cricket. Our league brings together top international stars and local talent on an exciting global platform for cricket enthusiasts. Together, our goal is to make history and enhance the game with every thrilling match.”
