A low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal on November 23. Following this, it is likely to strengthen into a low pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal in the next two days.
As this system intensifies further, there is a possibility of moving close to the east coast of Sri Lanka. The Meteorological Department has asked the public to be cautious while issuing future forecasts and advisories for this.
As a result, there is a possibility of showers and thundershowers in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces. Showers or thundershowers may occur at many places in other parts of the island during the evening or night.
Heavy rains exceeding 100 mm are likely to occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces. Foggy conditions are expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces during the morning.
You are requested to take precautionary measures to minimize the damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning strikes during thunderstorms.
