20 Indian fishermen who were recently arrested in Neduntivu have been released with conditions!
The case of 23 Indian fishermen who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on the night of 03rd of last night under the charge of cross-border fishing was taken up in the local police court.
20 of them were released today with the conditions of 18 months imprisonment suspended for 5 years.
The drivers of the two boats were sentenced to six months in jail, with a one-year jail term suspended for five years. Also, a fisherman was given a one-year jail term for crossing the border a second time.
The released fishermen will be repatriated after completing legal proceedings.
